At a time when the world seems to be spinning faster and faster, everyone is looking for where their safety belt is located in this acceleration. In the exhibition "Wait! Have a slice of bread, observe and accept.” five young artists, who have united under the group http://vide, are seeking answers. The authors explore the boundary situations of human interaction with technology—changes in identity, individual perception, memory, and the endless search for meaning—and transform their reflections into art.
The works utilize various techniques, combining projections, augmented reality, ready-made objects, and multisensory elements—including scent.
http://vide is an artist collective represented by five emerging artists Paula Ikase, Katrīna Lipšāne, Ļena Kiseļčuka, Dana Vetrova and Nicole Lee Zvaigzne. Graduation show "Wait, have a slice of bread, observe and accept" explores different facets of personality formations through personal reflections at different stages of life.
Some artworks explore symbols and liminality, creating a sense of directional confusion of existence. Some pieces talk about the practice of caring in time for the things we hold dear, oftentimes neglecting them in the process of living a fast-paced life. Other artworks talk about the need for superficial aesthetics and decorations that we use to fill our houses, time and existence with, without having an in-depth analysis of ourselves and our surroundings. More intimate and personal works speak about identity and nationality as a way to translate the world around us, literally using language as a model for social behaviours. The personal reflects the collective and the collective reflects the poetics of being. All the works have in common the practice of observing, perceiving, feeling and mirroring in different types of mediums, expressions and interpretations, the personality formation of a human being. The on-going process of living and developing is approached from different vectors of representation. The Mirror Development Theory of Carl Jung is a starting point in the research that urged on the show’s initiative and need for the subjects presented.
