Me and Art I (for children): Super-supergraphics
Opening hours
30.05.
12.00
Location
Latvian National Museum of Art, Jaņa Rozentāla laukums 1

The museum's art studio “Me and Art” invites children of preschool and primary school age to get to know works of art from different periods and to become better familiar with the language of art.
This time, the class “Me and Art I” will be dedicated to the exhibition “The Demolition of the Wall. Latvian Art 1985–1991,” which will soon close. As we bid farewell to this exhibition, let’s draw inspiration from the unique super-graphic artists of that era—artists who created monumental graphic works in impressive formats, boldly addressing topics that were important and challenging to society.
In this workshop, we’ll follow the artists’ creative choices and become supergraphic artists ourselves! We’ll work on large A1-sized sheets, using black markers, graphite, and the diverse possibilities of the pencil. We’ll create our own unique large-scale works and reflect on what challenges us today. We’ll learn to unlock the artistic potential of pencils and markers, focusing on composition, form, and the message of the work. And, as always—if color is particularly close to your heart and you can’t create without it, there will be a place and opportunities for that, too.
The workshop will be led by museum educator and artist Diāna Dimza-Dimme.
Please bring a regular pencil, an eraser, and personal hygiene supplies (such as wet wipes for your hands).
