Opening hours

Location
Paula Stradiņa Medicīnas vēstures muzejs, Ukrainas neatkarības iela 1, Rīga

The exhibition "The Unaccountables" tells the story of scientific efforts to bring to life the ideals of the "future man", which, against the backdrop of past events, outline the promises of modern medicine: longevity, new reproductive capabilities and a generation of genetically improved offspring. A significant place in the exhibition is devoted to the traumatic experiences of the past century, when ambitions to scientifically determine and politically control what kind of life is desirable lost their humanity. The laboratory-like environment of the exhibition encourages the interaction between historical artifacts, medical innovations and contemporary art.
